A Custom-Built Modwest CMS
A Content Management System, or CMS, is a set of tools for managing the content of your website. Modwest custom builds each CMS to fit the individual client's needs. Other companies offer pre-packaged CMS solutions that are often bloated: by default they include a wide array of features to satisfy a broad range of clients. These pre-packaged solutions can increase a client's cost by boxing you into paying for all a CMS's features instead of just the ones you need.
Though we build each CMS to your specifications, our CMSs share some important features detailed below.
- Your Modwest custom-built CMS is an online application built using open-source technologies. This means you can access your CMS and manage your website from nearly anywhere in the world using the modern web browser of your choice on most any computer.
- Your Modwest CMS will be extensible and portable. We can extend your CMS at any time with existing modules—like an events calendar—or we can create modules with new and specific functions that meet your business needs. And being portable, your CMS will work not just on Modwest's servers but on any Apache server (the most widely used server technology on the web) running PHP and MySQL (a widely used scripting language and database management system).
- We design the CMS with an eye toward polished simplicity: anyone who has submitted a form online will feel comfortable using a Modwest custom-built CMS. But, you can rest assured that your CMS tools are secure: password protection ensures that not just anyone will be able to modify your site. Only you or an administrator you choose will have access.
- Speaking of protection, a Modwest custom-built CMS safeguards your site from inadvertent modifications that could break the site's design, navigability and functionality. While our CMS gives you and your staff the control to change important content, you don't run the risk of breaking your site in the process; your professional design remains intact as does your site's information architecture. Pages, for example, can be added to your site, but only in designated areas. Just as in architecture itself, our CMS protects against structural snafus: your new garage won't get built in your bathroom.
